Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/27/17
Guntersville is gearing up for the FLW Tour which will be on the lake next weekend the first weekend of February. With that in mind my past week tells me there will be some big fish caught, my guess would be a 9 plus pound fish will win the big fish award; the numbers however will be hard to come by. I think the pros will struggle to catch a lot of fish and there will be days when over half the field weighs in just a couple of fish or less. Winning stringer will average over 25 pounds a day for sure.
My week was fairly typical winter fishing we struggled for numbers but quality was pretty good; you just could not afford to miss a bite as your chance to make it up was slight. Most of my bites came on about three baits. Picasso Shock blade chatter baits, they have a unique color that has a purple skirt and gold blade that really looks good in the recent muddy water. Also worked the Missile bait 48 stick bait to slow down around grass edges, patience was the key but it did produce.
Lastly the SPRO Aruka shad rattle bait was the high water bait of choice as you were targeting the banks for bites with the rattle bait.
If you're looking to fish this year I am booking for the entire year, I have guides and days available to fish with you; no one will treat you better or work harder to see you have a great time on the water. We fish with great sponsor products; Vicious Line, Duckett rods and reels, Lowrance Electronics, Navionics charts and more.
