Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/12/08
This past week was slow in the mornings but seemed to pick up in the late mornings and afternoons. It was windy each morning, the baitfish never surfaced until mid morning and the bass didn't seem to feed until after about 10 a.m. We seemed to do most of our searching early looking for top water bites but when mid morning hit the crank bait bite was strong.
I spent most of the week working the lake from one end to the other; I fished the south end early in the week and was up river by Thursday and Friday. The grass edges from 6 to 15 feet are producing most of the good lunker bass and the smaller bass seem to be most of the action on top. We worked buzz frogs a lot on the top water bite; we fished several lengths of Mister Twister worms with the smaller 6-inch being the best producer. Overall a crank bait that gets down to 7 to 9 feet are producing most of my crank bait bites.
Catches this week on good days were around 26 fish and the slow days around 15 with a few good 3 to 5 pound bass caught just about every outing.
My Stratos 201 Pro XL Team boat is for sale please contact me for details.
