Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/14/12
The swings in fishing this past week were as wide as I can recall; there were times when the numbers and size were good and then the opposite occurred. The problem was it appeared to be within the same day; in the morning the fish would hit and then in the afternoon you couldn't buy a bite or just the opposite would occur. Definitely a strange fall so far, no consistency and very little chasing and schooling as compared to other years.
The good news is that there appears to be a lot of small fish and that certainly speaks well for the future. The key to fishing right now is to present your bait so the bass will choose it over the endless amount of bait fish and that is the tough part. Presentation, presentation is the key and if you don't concentrate on your presentation you can go all day without a bite.
The baits that worked best for us this past week were Assassinator buzz baits, Punisher lures short arm spinner baits and a small worm worked on the grass edges.
