Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/24/10
This past week for me was pretty much about schooling fish, we were forced to chase those schooling bass most of the week. We did have some luck with crank baits in some of the open areas off the grass. The lake has completely turned over and the water temperature is more evenly distributed now that the turnover is complete. There is however still a ton of grass especially in the mid to upper river and as long as the grass stays thick and topped out it will be tough to find the Guntersville hogs we have been use to catching.
Most of the week we fished top water baits like SWL buzz baits over grass edges and chasing schooling fish. The rat bite has still been slow in most areas of the lake, and there has been some worm bites from dead sticking baits to weighted Go-2-Bait worms.
With some projected heavy rain on its way, if the weather man is correct I would think that the bass would become more active. I look for the rain to break up the grass mats and move the bass out and hopefully we will see them feeding more.
