Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/27/12
We started the week with bright sunny days, not much and the fishing felt more like the dog days of August instead of late October. The water temperature moved up during the mid day to the middle 70's; combine that with just very little wind and fishing was tough. As we progressed into Friday a very severe cold front was moving in the wind was picking up and fishing picked up tremendously.
If you were looking this past week for big bites, tournament type fish you had to be in the grass flipping a big profile bait into the holes in the grass. The problem with that from a guide perspective is it's a tough bite and generally only experienced fisherman enjoy this tedious task. We spent most of the week working worms, and looking for top water bites on Assassinator buzz baits and pop-R's. We also caught some fish pulling small crank bait s off the grass edges and contour breaks.
This next week with the cold weather should finally put the fish into some recognizable fall patterns, and allow the average fisherman a better chance at being productive.
