Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/3/09
It was definitely one of the tougher weeks this year that I have experienced. The bass are feeding on the tremendous amount of baitfish and they seem to just not pay attention to the artificial baits. We worked hard and long days this past week but struggled to put a pattern together that would consistently catch fish. I believe that most of the other guides and anglers has similar results.
We did catch fish and we caught some decent ones but for what we are use to on Guntersville we struggled. Our best bites came on top-water baits like SWL buzz-baits or buzz frogs, and some bites came on flukes over the grass. The aggravating part of the week was the tremendous amount of activity in and around the grass, and there lack of reacting to our baits. The cranking bite also had mixed results, we had some times where they jumped all over it, and some where they just didn't pay attention to them at all. Our biggest fish came on the one good day we had where we put together a 25 lb. plus stringer and had a big fish around 6.5 lbs.
The fall is young there should be many good times to come and I have days open to fish with you!
