Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 11/9/08
The past week was full of daily surprises as we had a different weather pattern just about everyday. We had warm sunshine, cold rain, wind, and cold days all presented different challenges on the water. The good news was some days it took a little longer than others but we figured out a pattern everyday and averaged 15 to 30 fish per day on the water. It also seemed that the bigger fish were feeding and we managed to put at least a 4 pound bass and some times better in the boat on a daily bases.
The pattern was pretty similar but the fish seemed to move from river channel to creeks and mouths of creeks on a daily bases, in fact one day they were scattered around boat houses. The consistent pattern was water depth of 7 to 12 feet and most the fish were caught on my cranking pattern, as has been the case for several weeks.
I spent the early part of the week up river and the later part in the mid part of the lake; grass points and ledges were the most productive areas throughout the week. We have a few more weeks before the fish move off the fall patterns to the deep and until then fishing will continue to be good. The size of the bass should start to increase as we get into winter and catching good quality bass will just get better as the numbers decrease on into late December.
