Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/10/09
The variety of weather made everyday different on the water for me this past week. We had wind, rain, and high water, some very muddy water and all presented different patterns to find fish. One day they were off into the flats chasing fast moving baits, another they were buried in the brush on the edges and one day they were on the creek breaks. It would be nice to see a consistent pattern hold up but as long as we are having these constant weather changes I suspect it will continue to change.
As change being the only constant it took a variety of baits for me to catch fish this past week. One day they were hitting rattle baits and Punisher Spinner Baits working around the flats and creek edges, another they were tight to cover and forced me to fish extremely slow. On the slow days we fished Tight-Line Jigs in black and blue color ¼ or ½ oz. in size. We also had a day where the only thing they hit was jerk-baits. The good news was the numbers were pretty good with the exception of one day on the water.
I fished up river everyday this week, working Mud Creek, Crow Creek and Town Creek over the weeklong period. We fished extremely shallow for the winter one day and the others we stayed mainly in 3 to 11 feet of water. With change being the only constant I suspect the days to follow will have some ups and downs but it sure is beautiful on the water this time of year. Definitely my favorite time of year on Guntersville!
Come fish with me it a great time to be on the water! I have days available to fish with you!
