Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 11/1/09
The last week of October proved to be just fair for my clients and me. Bites were at a premium and big fish were tough to find. The best day we had about 19 fish most were small and bites did not come easy. The other days we were fishing for only 10 or so bite a day, and it certainly made the days long on the water. I fished with some great folks out of several parts of the country, certainly met some great people and had some fun on the water.
The key for finding small fish was working small rattle baits or Punisher 3/8 oz. spinner baits through the gobs of baitfish in the lake. You had to be off the grass areas for it to work, but if you went to the coves where the wind was pushing the bait you could find some small fish. There is still a rat bite on the water, it's not all over but getting to the icky, nasty dying brown grass still is producing some rat bites.
Winter is near we are heading toward the shortest day of the year and as I have always said the winter solstice change from short to longer days gets the fish back moving and fishing will pick up after that. I am booked for all available dates in 2009 but wide open for the 2010 year. Let's go fishing together!
