Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/1/11

I personally was not on the water this past week but my partner spent 3 days chasing those little green full of fun fish we call bass. As expected the catches were not great but they did manage some fish. Its typical winter; bites were slow but they were grouped and when you find some bites it lasted maybe an hour or so and then you go back to hunting.

Fishing up river still seems to be the best as I said many times you just narrow the distance they travel and deep water is only 10 feet or so. Fishing was with slow moving baits made to enhance those with patience and make it tough on the folks without.

The days are getting a little longer and we should see improvement everyday as we move toward pre-spawn fishing. It will come quickly one day we will all of a sudden see them hitting traps consistently and fishing will be on!
