Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/11/14
With outside temperatures at night of 4 to 6 degrees and winds out of the north upwards of 20 mph the fun was taking out of any time spent on the water this past week. This was certainly for North Alabama the exception and trying to deal with it on the water was a struggle for sure.
The good news was that there was a 25 lb. sack weighted in at a local tournament, proving that if you're tough enough to brave that type of weather the rewards can be great. The bites are certainly few but the size was good and if you had the staying power on the water to over- come the elements the fun had a chance of being worth it.
Most of the bigger fish right now are caught on just a few presentations, the Alabama rig being one and the other for me being a Tight-Line football jig in crawfish color over hard bottom areas of the lake. We also fished the SPRO Aruka Shad (rattle bait) and SPRO Mcrip or jerk bait some but the results were not as strong as the A-Rig. We should be back to some normal outside temperatures and for sure make you time on the water more pleasant this up coming week.
Come fish with me I have guides and days available to fish with you; book you 2014 fishing trip now and lock down your best available date. No one will treat you better.
