Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/17/17
Winter is winter on Guntersville and every other lake that sees the below freezing temperatures, bites are generally big fish but the number of bites takes a hit. Patience is a virtue, working to overcome the obstacles of winter time fishing is typical for all who brave it.
The best advice I can give is keep fishing stay focused and look for bait. Don’t let the weather obstacles make good day fishing into a tough day of complaining about the weather. The more you let it get to you the more you miss the subtle winter bites. Stay in 6 to 15 ft. of water, find the thickest grass areas, find the hard cover like stumps and rock and work your area thoroughly. I like big baits this time of year large profile trailers on Tight-Line football jigs, large swim baits on Tight-Line swim jigs and large swim baits on Picasso chatter baits “Shock Waves.” Don’t forget that this is rattle bait time of year and working a SPRO Aruka Shad over grass with erratic movement is a killer technique.
Come fish with me no one will treat you better or work harder to see you have a great day on the water. I have days and guides available to fish with you. Looking for the best day that fits your schedule this spring book now to make sure you get it.
