Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/23/17
It’s safe to assume winter is here, bites are at a premium but catching can be good if you just set your expectations to understand that it won’t be easy! Your time on the water will be trying but the results could be bigger fish or even personal bests and that my friends make its worth it.
The ideal winter baits right now are SPRO McRip jerk baits they are just deadly over grass and with the right cadence and movement will test your big fish personal best record. The McRip is designed to go down 8 to 10 ft. and is perfect for that suspending fish sitting in 15 to 20 ft. of water. As is always the case on Guntersville the SPRO Aruka Shad rattle bait is one of the best reaction baits in the winter and is producing now and will all winter long. Continue using your Tight-Line football jig over hard bottom areas like stumps and gravel it is also currently producing good catches.
