Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/13/08
The obstacles were against you all week on the water, snow, cold, rain, high water and drastic temperature change made for a tough week on Guntersville. The creeks have dropped in temperature to 41 degrees and the main channel is around 49 degrees. I was only out on the lake for a short time over the week but the patterns I have been producing fish on just didn't pan out. I just struggled for bites!
The good news was for a few, some big fish were caught on Saturday with the lake showing some resilience as the temperatures warmed a little at the end of the week. Fishing extremely slow with extreme patience was the key for the lucky few that did find the fish.
I fished mid river, working jerk baits and slow rolling Punisher's ¾ oz. water melon colored spinner bait most of the time on the water. I did find some active fish working a Tight-Line jig ½ oz. black and blue off the ledges later in the day on Saturday.
This upcoming week is going to warm and should see some south winds and rain and I would bet we get some stability out of the bass and this should pick up the activities and feeding on the lake. Typical winter but the better days are ahead as we move past the winter solstice and the fishing will get better.
I am booking for next year, please call for details.
