Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/13/09
As is generally the case around the holidays my fishing time on the water is down and the weather seems to keep changing the patterns with its constant change. My time on the water although limited did produce some good numbers on the one nice weather day we had this past week. I fished the area around Goosepond and found fish on just about every stop.
One pattern that I always try in the cold days is fishing a jerk bait, in fact as many of my readers may recall the best day I have ever been part of came in the cold of an early day in February in 2003; fishing jerk baits with a very close friend of mine. Where we landed so many big fish over 5 pounds; that it was a day I have just never forgot. So my one-day on the water we pulled out jerk baits and had some good times this past week.
What we were doing was looking for bait activity off the edges of the grass and throwing jerk baits into the baitfish. Every stop it produced bites, as we ended the day with nearly 40 bass, had lots of fun and enjoyed a great day on the water. The baitfish activity is over 10 to 15 feet of water around points and ledges, we would either look for the seagulls swarming or notice top activity head to that area and have a blast.
I have only a few Christmas gift certificates left for this year, they are going fast and if you would like to buy one for a Christmas gift time is running out so you need to do so quickly.
