Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/14/13
This past week transitioned quickly, with the sunny days early in the week and the cold nights the fishing slowed considerably. The bass were active and feeding in the 4 to 10 foot grass edges and it all changed for me by the middle of the week, as we struggled to get a bite.
I believe the fish were transitioning from the coves to their winter holding spots and became lethargic as we moved into the middle of the week as they were hiding from the sun and positioning themselves in the deeper water.
The jerk bait bite with the SPRO Mcrip in royal shad color working it down to the 8 to 10 foot water was our best presentation for me. We also pitched heavy Tight-Line jigs with Missile Bait D-Bomb trailers in to the scattered grass, this was productive early in the week but as the change came this bite got tougher for me.
The good news is we are one week close to the shortest day of the year and as we move past the winter solstice fishing improves drastically.
