Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/20/09
The warm rain and a little warmer weather actually helped the bite this past week. The problem was the lake was foggy just about everyday I was on the water and your ability to run the lake was very limited. The limited visibility forced me to bang the banks most of the week finding some fish grouped along rocks or boat houses most of the time!
The fish being grouped did have some benefit because when you found them you could work the area for a few 100 yards thoroughly and catch several fish and some decent size bass when you did. The bad news was when that bite turned off the lack of ability to run the lake made it hard to find your next bite. I spent most of the week in the Goosepond area fishing rock banks and boathouses in 5 to 9 feet of water.
Baits this week were pretty typical wintertime baits, jerk baits were effective especially in getting the bigger bite, and the numbers came on Punisher Spinner Baits in ghost color. I did effectively fish new bait from a newly signed sponsor, Secret Weapon Lures. Fishing their drop shot rig they call a "Recoil Rig." This is a drop shot that you can work through the grass that the weight hangs on an elastic rig that shakes and moves the bait with very little effort. This presentation is deadly and I believe offers a tremendous upside for Guntersville. If you would like to try it go to www.secretweaponlures.com I have case sensitive Promo Code FLGGS9 that you can use to get a 30% discount off of their listed price. There is also a video demo that you can see this bait in action. Secret Weapon Lures offers other products as well and this Promo Code will be good for anything you were to purchase.
Come fish with me I have openings and I am booking into 2009.
