Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/23/11
Winter is still upon us, and fishing is still hit and miss from the cold, snow and nasty days so far this January. The good news is the winter should be winding down as we are approaching February and a normal year means great pre-spawn fishing as we move into February.
This past week I spent just a few days on the water, success was spotty, but the size of the fish when did find them was pretty good. The sunny days definitely were better than the overcast ones, which is pretty typical for the winter months.
This is the time of year I enjoy slow rolling a Punisher Spinner Bait off the drops near the river, we did that some this past week but the wind made it real hard to fish off the channel. Most our fish we did catch were in the creeks in the 10 to 4 foot drops. Most came on a jerk bait and rattle bait.
The good times are close, keep at it, the best is near! I am booking for the spring and have several opening still available to fish with you! It's time to plan those outings now as spring fishing will be here before you know it!
