Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/30/11
A pleasant change for the good in weather; made for some better times on the water. We saw a few degree increases in water temperature over the week that pushed the bass up on top of the grass for a short period of time during each day. In fact the water temperature warmed in three days from 36 degrees to 43 degrees, and the result was some good times on the water.
I believe we are starting to see the early pre-spawn movement; it will only last a few hours a day until we get a few more degree increase in water temperature each day. The result will be a few hours a day of good activity as we had this past week. We had some very successful trips this past week with one day having a stringer of about 18 lbs. and several fish being caught during the trip.
It's definitely rattle bait and spinner bait time, some erratic movement and noise was the key to getting strikes and should continue for six or more weeks as we move through the pre-spawn period. When you find the grass you have found the fish at least that appeared to be the key this past week.
