Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/4/14
We have for sure hit a snag going forward for the winter bite as the temperature is well below normal and will affect the bite for a few weeks to come. We are experiencing low temperatures we have not seen in many years and this will for sure affect it going forward for awhile.
This past week started to show signs of big improvements but my fear is it will be short lived until we get back to some more normal temperatures. In between the Bowl Games for college football I managed some time on the water that was fairly productive. We fished Tight-Line football head jigs working deep grass and structure and found some really good fish. It was however pretty winter typical as we experienced few bites but good size and you didn't get to many second chances.
We also have found that the rattle bait bite is showing promise, fishing SPRO Aruka Shad in purple rain color in the grass edges and around the bait balls that show up all over the lake the colder the water temperatures get.
Winter fishing is fun, size is great and there are very few boats on the water, this really gives you a good run of the lake and when you find them the fun is worth it!
