Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/6/12
The colder nights have slowed the fish some on the lake this past week; I believe we have finally seen the typical winter movement to the deeper water and suspending most of the day. As much as I have enjoyed the early great winter fishing the bass had to finally move to a winter pattern.
All said; this does not mean the bass did not bite at all, but the chasing and feeding on the enormous amounts of bait seems to have finally slowed. We had to slow our retrieves and work more precise baits like shaky heads or jigs to catch fish. The more winter like pattern should improve the mid day bite and slow the early bite as the bass will look for the warming midday temperatures to feed.
Our baits this week started out with fast moving baits like spinner baits and traps and some A-rig and then changed to Tight-Line football head jigs and Punisher Shaky heads to catch fish.
