Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 2/1/15
As the weather goes this time of year so does the fishing and this past week the wind and cold of the first few hours of the morning was tough not only on the fishing but the body also. Your ability to hold to a spot when you got a bite was tough as the areas were too deep for the Power Poles to grab and to windy to maintain the angle it took to get the repeat bite. So the result was small fish and small numbers of bites most days to talk about.
It is however still a blast to get on the water with the sense that at any time that personal best or even the lake record might be lurking about; and one cast can make your day. We are spending most of our time trying to find the pre spawn staging fish with search baits most of the time; the best bait for me has been the SPRO Aruka Shad rattle bait. Colors have been all over the spectrum with the water changing color consistently from muddy looks to crystal clear forcing a change in colors sometimes from the beginning of the day to the end.
If history repeats itself we are about 2 weeks away from the beginning of the pre-spawn and it should be a banner year. Come fish with me no one will treat you better see you soon!
