Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 2-15-09
Extreme crowds on the lake, boats on every turn, points and drops, the FLW Pro's hitting the lake hard but the fish responded to the first warm week of February very well. If you wanted to see fishing pressure this past week was the ultimate, but if you stayed on the water and worked your baits the bass were still being caught. Tough conditions but it proves that Guntersville is as strong as ever.
Most of the week I fished the upper part of the lake with the exception of one day, but it proved to me that the bass are more active in the upper river. The one day we fished mid river we struggled for bites, but in the upper river we averaged 15 to 30 fish and the size was better as well.
As is always the case in early spring the rattle bait bite is on; we fished other lures and presentations but when it was all said and done a rattle bait caught fish. The bass are in motion for the pre-spawn and that won't change even as the fronts move in and out. You should be able to find bass moving to the creeks getting ready for the spawn regardless of the weather. The next 4 to 6 weeks will be excellent fishing.
I am booked up solid until March where my schedule opens up again and I have openings throughout March and April. Come fish Guntersville with me, you'll be very pleased with the days catch!
