Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 2/28/09
The week started out slow but picked up in the later part of the week. The 1st few days were slowed by cold night time temperatures; it slowed the bite and gave the fish just a few hours of activity. If you were in the right place as the day warmed you had a good day, if not you struggled.
By Thursday the longer feeding day was on, the temperature at night had warmed and the bass were feeding most of the day. The size was up the numbers were up and my customers had a blast. All week I fished above Goose Pond and we targeted wood, grass bottoms and warmer water. Thursday was by far the best of the week we had a big stringer of 5 caught good numbers and had a blast in some relatively great weather.
Most of the week we threw rattle baits, but we did do some fishing with Tight-Line Jigs, Punisher Spinner Baits, crank baits and jerk baits. We managed bites on all but the best fish catcher was the rattle bait. The key was that everyday they wanted a different type of presentation with the rattle bait.
I have openings on into March, the fishing is just getting better and better you won't be disappointed.
