Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/14/09
This past week started to show signs of consistency as the bass are moving to the beds, the buck bass are with them and fish are showing up in all stages of the spring movement. This time of year is just great you can fish and catch pre-spawn fish, spawning fish, and post spawn fish; you can find them shallow, in the mid depths and deep. Regardless of how you like to fish there is a pattern you will like. This past week was a great week because of the time of year. There was a pattern for you all you had to do was fish!
The water temperature was in the mid to upper 50's and in some back waters the mid 60's, this allowed for us to find various patterns and catch fish on a variety of baits. The numbers came on Mister Twister worms, the bigger bites came on Tight-Line Jigs in crawfish color as well as rattle baits from ½ oz. to an oz. I fished more of the mid river this week as the bass have spread the lake in activity and there was no need to stay up river as before.
My customers had great days with at least one big fish a day and sometimes more and the numbers were 20 to 30 fish a day with many chances to have increased that with missed opportunities. We fished mainly in water less than 6 feet deep, looking for some green grass and wood in the area. The good times are here, and until we get real hot it's all-good!
Come fish with me; I have days open on into March and days available to fish with you.
