Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/16/13
This past week really required you to fish hard and long and stay focused as the bites were light in most cases, the number of bites was low and if you missed fish the next bite was more work away. You just don't have the privilege right now of fishing and not being focused because the bites you miss were just not given back to you 10 minutes later. The other thing this week at least early in the week the water temperature dropped and pushed many fish back to the mouths of the creeks instead of the back-end spawning grounds. We had several nights in the 20's and that moved the fish off the spawning flats.
We worked many different baits this week with Tight-Line jig football head jig in Guntersville special color ¾ oz. being the best bait of the week. We also fished jerk baits, Spro-7 to 9 foot crank bait, and Spro rattle baits and Missile Baits D-Bomb all catching fish during the week at some point each day.
Staying focused will be the key this up-coming week for a variety of reasons, the bass will move at some point shortly to the flats, they will not be aggressive and you will have to stay on top of them in transition as the warmer air temperature takes over.
