Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/21/09
A
lot of different weather; from sun to rain, cold and wind to an
enormous amount of anglers out on the water for spring break this past
week. Consequently we had some great days and we had some slow days
over the course of the week. When you put it all together we caught a
lot of fish averaging 20 or more on most trips, had several big fish
and found the lake to be productive. Friday and Saturday slowed some
but all said a good week on Guntersville.
Early in the week we were
still catching the bigger fish on rattle baits and the numbers on
Mister Twister lizards, then the bite changed to cranking bites and we
caught most of the better fish off humps on crank baits. The bass are
in all phases of the spawn, we have some post spawn fish and some
pre-spawn fish; the spawn will last for about 6 more weeks and then we
should settle into a more consistent bite until it gets to warm.
I
spent most of this week in the mid part of the lake, working the break
lines, the humps and the flats during the day. The real big fish were
very shallow on into the day.
I do have openings most every week
throughout the month of March and April; it's a great time to be on the
water. The spinner bait bite is near and top water is around the
corner. Come fish Guntersville I'd love to show you around!
