Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/18/09
As good as it gets, that is the only way to describe this past week on Guntersville. We caught good fish all week, several fish in the 7 lb. range and days with 25 to 35 bass. I can't remember when we have had so many good days back to back. The only bad news was it took a little time in the mornings to find the pattern that produced but when you did it paid off.
One of my favorite lures has always been a jig, however in the past years for me I have struggled some to catch fish on a jig but this year has just been the best in several years. The jig bite has been as productive for me as it was in the 80's. Tight-Line Jigs in crawfish color are producing big fish and lots of them. We have also caught lots of fish on Mister Twister big worms; watermelon red in color has been great along with their lizard in June bug color. We are also starting to see the Punisher Spinner Bait bite turn on, their new Guntersville Royal shad color is stating to produce and it will just continue to get better.
Most of my fishing this week has been from 7 feet of water to 3 feet and most has been in the back of the creeks. Find a little cover and your catching fish. I spent just about every day in the mid river with one day down on the south end.
Come fish with me I have days open in April and on into May!
