Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/24/11
The bass are making a long day into a short one as the fishing activity keeps getting better and 8 hours just seems to fly bye! I do believe we are going through the biggest phase of the spawn as it seems the bass have moved up to the shallows in the biggest numbers of the year. There is also a mess of the post spawn fish moving off the shallow water and moving to humps and ledges.
I have spent some time this week hunting the shad spawn bite, but so far it hasn't occurred for me! I do believe it is near and we should be whacking the bigger fish as they come off the beds and out to the ledges. This past week has been as good as any time this year with Tight-Line Jigs and all versions of soft plastics catching fish. With the ledge bite coming it's time to stock up on your Punisher Spinner Baits, their watermelon color was designed for Guntersville and it's time to restock your tackle box.
The best of the year is near and the top water bite is starting to occur, it's time to get on the water!
