Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/11/14
Fishing this past week started to change some, the bass are in the post spawn and spreading the lake as they generally do this time of year. The difference is the lake has been through some of the most increased pressure since the Classic I can ever recall seeing. The bass are beat up and are reacting to the pressure by becoming very skittish, and not reacting to some of the search baits they have in the past slowing the bite considerable this past week. The spinner bait bite has been somewhat non-existent, and that is a very big change from the past years.
We have had to fish slow, sticking with Tight-Line football jigs, mussel ling them along the bottom slowly and precisely to catch fish. The big worm bite is picking-up the trouble is the fish hitting it are generally small. We have also had success deep cranking SPRO Little John crank bait; the deep bite isn't everywhere but when you find them they are good solid fish that could win a tournament.
Come fish with me fishing is still good, some slow times but certainly still lots of fun to be done! No one will treat you better!
