Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/18/14
They say that lakes like Guntersville produce in 7 to 10 year cycles; and I believe we are definitely in the top of the cycle with the lake producing like a fisherman's dream; where fishing is easy.
The past week was another impressive week on Guntersville, with action at a peak and good times continuing day after day. Even the days we struggled in the mornings the afternoons proved to be impressive. Catching gobs of fish, catching big fish and seeing big smiles on the faces of my customers; it's all good.
The only thing is the bite to me is different than many other years; we generally see the month of May covered in top water actions and fishing the shad spawn at first light with big spinner baits. The bass are pressured and beat up and forcing us to adjust and fish it differently than years past. We continue to fish Tight-Line jigs football head jigs in many color combinations with greens, blues and oranges being my preferred coloring; top that jig with a Missile Bait D-bomb as a trailer and you are catching jobs of fish. The deep crank bait bite with a SPRO DD Little John is also been good you just have to hit the timing right and your catching fish.
Come fish with me no one will treat you better!
