Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/20/15
This past week on the water has been tough on the old body as the heat past about 10 in the morning has made for some times with the elements you struggle through and are a lot tougher to deal with. Fishing on the other hand has been great, the numbers and many times the size of the fish we are catching are just great, so braving the heat is well worth it.
The surface water temperature is moving up close to 90 degrees quickly and the need to fish more subtle baits or do some motionless fishing is increasing. You just had to adjust and understand that the heat is slowing down the fish metabolism and being more subtle with your baits may be the key to catching fish. Not much has changed in my bait use this past week, I have gone back a little more to fishing Texas rigged Missile bait D-Bombs, but still catching fish on Tight-Line football jigs, SPRO Little John crank baits adding a Punisher Lure Shaky Head to my arsenal rigged with Mister Twister Comida's.
The good news about having what appears to be a hot summer ahead is that the high temperatures will turn the grass as it hits the surface into icky nasty surface grass and should bring back some early SPRO frog fishing. Come fish with me no one will treat you better.
