Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/20/09
Some of the hottest days of 2009 occurred this past week; it definitely had some effect on the fishing. The bite past 9 am everyday was definitely tougher; it wasn't that the fish didn't bite as much as the heat made for some tough concentration issues. The fish were feeding but the bite was slow and you really had to concentrate on your rod tip and line to feel the bites. If you didn't the fish would be gone or pull you into a position that you couldn't set the hook and you lost the fish!
The good news was that most of the week we had a strong top water bite early, until Saturday that is and it made for some fun and quick catches in the morning before you had to go to the big worm or jig bite to catch a fish.
We averaged about 15 to 25 fish a day had a couple of good fish everyday and had some great times with some great customers. I did fish with the gentleman from Virginia fishing 50 trophy lakes in 50 days, they had and excellent day Friday morning landing their personal best in the largemouth species at 5.7 and caught a bunch of fish.
There are some good times ahead, my trips for the next six weeks will be limited to 6 hour days unless we have some cooling or rain occurs.
