Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/22/13
With some very few exceptions I must admit that this past week was a great week of fishing for my customers! It seems I get a lot of people here on vacation this time of year and also many folks looking to just learn and or improve their fishing skills. These folks are always rewarding customers as there are a lot of families and good people. Family has been left out of many people's lives over the past decade with all the busy schedules most of us encounter, making the short family time fishing a great day for them and me.
There is no doubt in my mind that as the grass thickens the bass are moving into the grass where the water is cooler and they are more protected from the intense summer sun. This movement has me back fishing a little shallower than early June time frame, fishing heavy weighted Missile Bait D-Bombs or heavy weighted Tight-Line jigs one oz. in size with big trailers.
We did do some deep cranking with Spro Crank Baits this past week but that only produced early in the day before the fish moved more to the grass. It appeared to me that the fish you could see staging deep were just not as active. We caught fish on many different baits with the worm type bite being our best overall producer!
