Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/26/11
If you would have dissected the weather this past week and related it to fishing you would have thought that the week would have been excellent fishing. Well sometimes weather patterns fool you and this past week I struggled to find active fish with any size. It was rainy, cooler than the past but the fish stayed suspended and just didn't move as I expected. One of the biggest factors was the wind, just about every morning when you expected it to be calm and counted on a top water bite it didn't happen.
When we did find a top water bite it occurred mid morning when you really didn't expect it, if you found them mid morning we loaded the boat, if not you struggled. We spent most the week between BB Comer Bridge and Seibold Creek fishing many different patterns. We spent time on the ledges, looking for active fish, we worked grass lines from 6 to 30 feet of water and we fished humps from one end of the lake to the other.
There are many places where the grass is about top out and this should supply plenty of cover for the bass as they make their move from the ledges to the creeks as we move through summer.
