Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/27/09
The heat this week raised the water temperature to the low 90's and I must say if you wanted to keep catching fish you had to find the deeper points and muscle beds to do so. The little bites were still out there in the 6 to 10 foot range but if you wanted a big bite you had to fish deep.
The problem this week for me was customer patience, it was a typical hot summer time bite, some times they bite really well and others you had to just hang, be patient and keep your bait on the bottom to catch fish. As summer time fishing always does the patience of the fisherman was tested, that expectation that the bite will be continuous got to some of my customers. Even though we caught fish everyday the time between bites some times made the heat seem a little tough. I worked hard at finding consistent bites but past 9 am that became tough, we had to drag Carolina rigs, or fish slow moving Tight-Line jigs, we even fished some drop shots off the deep points.
We fished mainly the mid part of the lake, early in the day we worked top-water baits we had mixed results working mainly SWL buzz baits on top and past that it was slow moving big Mister Twister worms, Tight-Line jigs and drop shots. We had some really good days early in the week with 25 to 35 fish a day and it slowed a little on or about Thursday.
Its typical summertime fishing but it still beats working, come fish with me I have days available to fish with you!
