Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/27/10
Hot weather hot water and physically demanding days on the water describe the elements we faced this past week on Guntersville. The fishing was however pretty good with the exception of one day.
The morning and late afternoon have proven to be the most fun part of the day, when we found the top water bite, it was great and we put several fish in the boat when it was on. Mainly fishing each day with SWL buzz baits over grass was the key to the top water bite. The numbers were coming on up in the day when the schooling fish started to show over the creeks and grass beds.
If you found the schooling fish they were generally small fish but you could catch a bunch of them in a short period of time.
The bigger bites came deep on crank baits or Carolina rigged Go-2-Bait big 13 inch worm, or Tight-Line jigs crawfish color ¾ oz. jig worked slowly along the deep structure. We had a pretty good week most days were successful, the elements were just tough past mid morning.
