Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/5/09
Just when I thought we had made an early entry into the summer doldrums the fishing has picked back up and this past week was just unbelievable. The bass spread the lake, and we have found them at every depth and turn on the lake. The general movement of the fish for many years now has been to spread the lake after the shad spawn occurs, it just took a while to move them into this pattern because of some late cool weather last week.
After a week of several days on the water of 10 hours or more and averaging 80 plus fish a day, having a day of rest feels pretty good. Some tremendous activity this past week brought some big smiles on customer faces, made my job easy and brought a lot of fun every day on Guntersville. Most of the week I fished in the mid part of the lake, working from Guntersville State Park to BB Comer Bridge.
If you found grass you found the bass, that simple. We caught fish on top water baits, Mister Twister worms and lizards and Tight-Line jigs. If you wanted a bigger fish you just needed to work a big jig and the plastics brought the smaller fish. A great week with some great people from all over the country; truly a week to remember.
The fishing is only going to get better, the hot days are grouping up the fish and the good times are ahead.
