Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 7/13/13
This past week on the water we started to see more ups and downs as the heat is pushing the fish into more of a suspending mode than a feeding one. Pretty typical in the heat of the summer where you have the first 4 hours of the morning to catch your fish before they hide in the deep water or in the grass.
We did have some very successful trips, we just observed a little more down time between bites than we have been seeing! Most of our success is coming from Missile Bait D-Bombs rigged as trailers on Tight-Line football head jigs; also worms and other creature baits Texas rigged along grass lines. We also have gotten back cranking Spro DD Little John crank baits and seeing them hook up pretty well in the hotter part of the day. The top water bite started coming back toward the end of the week, we had over 8 inches of rain last week and it had most the visible top water spots covered with water until Thursday for me!
We are averaging 10 to 16 fish for a short four hour day and 25 to 30 on an eight hour day so fishing is still a lot of fun. Last week we had two fish over 7 lbs. so size is still good also. Come fish with me I have days and guides available to fish with you!
