Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 7/26/09
The week was a little slower for numbers this past week it seemed to slow down in the mid part of the week and make it a little tougher to put 30 or more bass in the boat over a day on the water. The size of the fish seemed to increase as the numbers went down but we had several 5 plus pound fish in the later part of the week.
All said Guntersville is still doing its thing; there are a lot of bites, enough opportunities in the heat to have some fun spending a day on the water. The grass has finally reached the top of the water in a lot of areas up river, this has schooled the fish up and when you find a bite there are many more with it. An interesting thing for me is the Punisher Spinner Bait bite, with all the bait and schooling going on we have caught some really good fish under the schooling bass with ½ oz. spinner baits ticking the top of the grass.
The most consistent bait has been pitching a Tight-Line Jig, the jig bite has been great and I am catching most of my better fish on a jig. We also had a day were we flipped docks with jigs and it was very rewarding, as we caught some great fish holding on the docks.
Come fish with me I have days available to fish with you!
