Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 7/1/11
The heat has definitely made fishing tougher this past week; we have to work hard to get enough bites to have a good day. The problem is the down time in between bites and catches, you can fish for a couple of hours and not even begin to get bit, then you catch 3 or 4 and wait again for the next flurry. That slow action coupled with the extreme heat has taken its toll on most the fishermen on the water.
The good news is when you get into the fish they are pretty good quality and put on a good fight making the down times go away. My sense is as everything has seemed to happen early this year; so my belief is the bass will shortly move off the ledges and into the grass making the flipping bite and frog bite occur early also. This can be a lot of fun as customers love to fish the frog.
Fishing is good, not great but time on the water is the only way to stay with the fish as they move and change over the course of this summer.
