Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 7/31/10
The "frog bite" is picking up and this past week was a lot of funs seeing those big fish destroy a frog on top water. Not only did they destroy it but they ate it; every fish we caught had the frog deep in their mouth; so short strikes were not a problem. Any time we can catch fish on top all bad days become good days regardless of the numbers, as catching bass on a frog is just over the top with fun.
The other patterns like worm and jig fishing were a little slow, but we did manage to find fish with Go-2-Bait paddle worms and Tight-Line jigs. We also had a few times when the Secret Weapon buzz bait bite was strong. Every day brought something different, but we managed some good fish everyday with fair numbers over the week.
The sun is browning the grass on top, it's getting icky and nasty and as this continues into August, the frog bite will continue to pick up every day. The late summer fun is just beginning, no bite or pattern is more fun than catching bass on a frog and every day until nearly November will be more and more fun.
