Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 7/4/09
The lake kept on keeping on this past week, the bass were schooled up in groups and most of the week we caught a lot of fish on just about every trip. We saw a little dip in water temperature from the 90+ ranges in to the mid 80's; and I believe it helped the bite at least for the first few hours of the morning.
The wind in the afternoons slowed the top water activity but if you like slow rolling a lightweight Punisher Spinner bait over the top of the grass it was also a successful pattern. The big winner most of the week for my customers was Mister Twister big worms, most of our good size and numbers were caught on big worms. The color seemed to be what ever matched the watercolor at that time of day; the high sun changed the color compared to the lower light sunny time. We also found some good bites on crank baits ranging from 8 to 15 feet in depth either over the top of the grass or down the edges and points.
The bass have survived the heat so far and in most cases we found anywhere from 20 to 50+ bites or opportunities a day. In the heat we have had you just can't ask for much more. Most my trips have not been for more than 6 hours at a time trying to keep most people off the water in the extreme heat of the day. There are still some great days ahead for the summer, come fish with me I have day's available le to fish with you!
