Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/15/15
August appears to be heading to the record books as a little cooler than July, which is kind of different than the past years. Having said that fishing appears to be benefitting from the slightly cooler temperatures especially early in the day where bigger fish appear to be easier to catch if you can get on the water at first light.
The past week had some great action on top most of the mornings and when the top water bite wasn't there we hit the grass and dropped a Missile Bait D-bomb or D-Stroyer on their heads and turned some pretty good fish. We also worked ¾ to 1 oz. Tight Line jigs in the heavier grass and found some good fish in the thicker grass; the difference to me was the grass fish appear to be off the river channel and at the mouths of the creeks in many parts of the lake.
We are approaching the fall bite, it is just a short few weeks away and as the bass start their feeding and movement to the fall locations fishing will continue to get better and better. It's time to book your trip for the fall; it's going to be a great second half of the year and I have guides and days available to fish with you. No one will treat you better!
