Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/11/12
I only spent a few days on the water this past week, one day we got ran off the lake with lightning so that day was a bust. The next day we had some good catches just not a lot of size to brag about. The day I was run off the water I spent most of my time helping a guy with his Lowrance units, as a Lowrance Pro Staffer I spend several days a year helping folks learn how to use and understand their units. We tried to combine a little fishing along with the some training, when you work on training especially Structure Scan you spend a lot of time letting your boat idle around deep spots talking and not much time fishing.
The few fish we caught that day were on Spro frogs; their popper frog in black and red seems to be my choice in color and style early in the frog season. The next day was all about swim baits, we spent most of the day working 8 to 12 feet of water slowly pulling swim baits through the scattered grass. We had some good success on swim baits and also had several times where the tail was bite off so the fall aggressive bite is starting to show up.
It appears the weather may be starting to cooperate early and we should see some continued improvement on the lake every day. We are expecting a few nights in the 50's and day time temps in the low 80's this should lead to some great improvement especially for the frog fisherman and top water in general! Come fish with me I have days available to fish with you!
