Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/14/10
This past week put an exclamation mark on the "Dog Days" of August. We definitely saw the toughest conditions of the summer. The bass were suspending, the heat was unbearable and the bites were hard to come by. My customers this past week were fishing for less than 10 bites per trip and that made for tough times on the water.
The baits that did produce for me when we did get bites were SWL buzz baits early in the morning, the frog bite was non-existent, we did manage to find some fish on shallow running crank baits. In fact our best fish in size and numbers all came on these small size shallow running crank baits. We also found a few bites on worms along grass edges, they were generally small fish but none the less a bite.
I'll be back at it next week, the weather is suppose to be more near normal highs and hopefully it will improve the fishing.
