Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/21/10
The weather changed this past week and the fishing picked up with some rain, overcast skies and cooler temperatures. Come Tuesday we had some heavy rain that pushed the fish out from under the grass mats and made for some great jig fishing. We worked Tight-Line jigs in 8 to 4 feet of water and had a blast. We had times where we had back to back catches, doubles and triples while working grass lines.
When the jig bite went away we started pounding the edges with 4 to 7 ft running crank baits and once again caught fish after fish. The only negative was we really didn't catch any big fish, at least the ones that would win a tournament with our best fish being in the 4 pound range. The activity was fun, and my customers enjoyed the consistent bites. It's been such a struggle this summer in the extreme heat that this past week was a great week not only on your body but catching fish regardless of size.
We are reaching the point of the summer where the activity should pick up daily, as we get more wind and rain to cool the water temperatures. I see nothing but good times ahead until we get some really cold temperatures and that is months away.
