Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/28/10
I only spent a couple of days on the water this past week but it appears to me that the cooler nights is moving the inactive fish up some, and the frog and top water bite is getting better. The few days I did spend on the water we found the bass in several different stages of the fall movement, there was a nucleus of fish up under the grass and we worked them with frogs and soft plastics. Then as the day changed we moved off the grass lines and did some cranking finding fish striking reaction movements with crank baits.
The amazing thing about fall fishing is reaction bites are apt to produce a big fish more than any time of the year, but you have to work your baits with movement that the big bass will strike. We worked our baits in several types of presentation looking for the reaction bite and had several good fish this past week. There is a tremendous amount of bait out on the lake and you have to give the bigger fish a reason to strike your bait.
Most my customers saw improved catches, opportunities and size this past week making it probably the best week for me since the heat set in about 6 weeks ago. We have a strong window of opportunity over the next 8 weeks to have some really good days on the water! Come fish with me I have days available to fish with you!
