Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/29/09
Some strange days on the water this past week, when you thought the bite would be great it wasn't and when you felt the bite would be tough it was great: go figure! The windy cool days with a strong north wind were super; the rainy overcast days were tough; I would have lost a bunch of money if I had bet on the day before I headed to the water.
The days we did well were just about exclusively top water action, we either caught them on a traditional hollow body rat or a Secret Weapon buzzbait. The buzzbait bite was better in the wind and the rat bite came when you could hide from it! The good news was the bite we did get had some size and good solid fish, so some good fish covered the struggles, when we did catch them. The other oddity was we could never really get the small bite around schooling fish, generally speaking we have been able to find small fish all summer but this past week the bait chasing activity was some good size bass.
The top water action is just going to get better; the Secret Weapon buzz-baits will produce some great fish over the next month or more. By the way I still can offer you a 25% discount on their product by going to their web site www.secretweaponlures.com plugging in my discount code FLGGS9 and saving you some money. Come fish with me I have days available all through the fall to fish with you. It will be a great fall I hope you will come take advantage of it.
