Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/7/10
With some afternoon thunder storms and some cooling from the rain the fishing picked up this past week on Guntersville. The heat was still tough past 11 am or maybe noon but the bass found a way to make your time on the water fairly exciting. The key was working grass areas thoroughly and carefully covering every inch before you left an area. If there was activity like bait moving or gar slapping the water there was bass to be caught?
The frog bite was strong, most of the week, TVA raised the water mid week and moved the bass to some different areas, but the bait and activity moved also and that made it easier to find the fish. There was also, several ways to get bite this past week outside the frog bite. The spinner bait bite along the edges of the grass was pretty good, you also could catch fish on worms, jigs and swim baits.
The fall winds and cooling temperatures is right around the corner, as we move toward it there will be several changes that occur, the bass will move and become more active in the grass, and along stump lines and channel edges. The numbers of fish caught will pick up and the fall bite will just get better.
